What is your gifting? Does the idea of hosting a dinner make you sweat? If you were asked to speak in front of a crowd with you thrive or throw up?
God gave each of us a special gift (or two or three) to use to further His Kingdom. In 1 Corinthians, Paul talks about the different spiritual gifts. He says that there are several gifts in which God gives different people including teaching, leading, preaching and helping others. He starts out by saying that not everyone can do the same thing.
“But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.” 1 Corinthians 12:18-20
1 Corinthians 12 also says that the things we find insignificant are important and sometimes the most necessary. There are many gifts, but God does not call us to do them all. There are some people that are very gifted in teaching, but couldn’t entertain guests if they had to. A group like The Call has areas that need volunteers that fit into all of the areas of gifting.
The Call of White County has leadership roles available for those who are good leaders. We need people who are comfortable getting in front of people and spending 5 minutes sharing about The Call. For those who are gifted in serving others or hospitality we have plenty of opportunities to host lunches and serve behind the scenes. The Call’s number one goal is to train and support as many new foster families as possible which means we need people willing to teach the PRIDE training.
Some of you may know where your gifting is. For some this is a new concept. If you’ve never taken a spiritual gifts test or it’s been a long time since you’ve taken the test, click here to take the test. When you find your special gifting, give us a call or message us on Facebook and let us know what your gifting is and we’ll let you know where you’d be best serving.
It’s important to find your gifting and serve in that manner. If your gifted at serving, but you’re teaching a class you’re likely to be unhappy and get burned out more easily. Discover your gift and find a place to serve that uses that gift and you’ll be happy and feel like you’re where you belong.
