The CALL is a Christian, non-profit organization that brings the church and the Department of Children and Family Services together for a common goal – to train up foster families to love and care for the foster children in Arkansas. The Bible says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” James 1:27. The CALL takes that scripture seriously and works towards training and supporting Christian foster families.
To educate, equip and encourage the Christian community to provide a future and a hope for the children in foster care.
There are about 100 foster children in White County and only 30 foster homes. There are about 5,000 children in care in Arkansas and about 500 children waiting to be adopted. We are in crisis and The CALL is working diligently to create more foster homes so that there are more than enough homes for children in White County and the entire state of Arkansas.
The CALL is unique because it provides the opportunity for prospective foster, adoptive, and respite care parents to go through state-approved training WITHIN a church setting. They will have an automatic “support group” as they go through training with other Christians. Guidelines to foster or adopt using The CALL is different than the guidelines of DCFS. The CALL does not train same-sex couples or couples living together outside of marriage. Our families are required to sign a Statement of Faith and get a reference letter from their pastor or Sunday School teacher.
Your prayers are greatly needed for this initiative. Please pray that God will move in the hearts of His people to step out in faith and care for the hurting children in foster care. It is clear from James 1:27 that He calls us, as His followers, to reach out to them in love.
